Ever since I was a child, I have loved discovering mysterious shapes around me, in piles of washing, stains on walls, the creases of bed sheets and all sorts of other places. I would often find myself drawn into their imaginary worlds.
Some of these creatures have stayed vividly in my memory. One was a little demon with a small horn and plump chicks, whom I found in a stain on my mum's treasured wardrobe.my sister and I were lively tomboys and had left marks on it with our grubby hands and feet— sorry, Mum! He had a faint, shy smile, and seeing him every morning and evening, I came to think of him as my dear friend.
Many years later, while reluctantly taking my daily medication, I noticed that a crushed blister pack had formed a creature that looked just like one of those I used to see.I was amazed.from then on, taking my medication became my happy time, as I began looking forward to discovering new creatures in the empty packs.
I bring their worlds to life on small discs.Once a character is placed on one, it's mysterious world begins to breathe.
Perhaps you too once saw imaginary shapes and the creatures around you, but have forgotten them in the busyness of everyday life.I hope my work brings back those memories— or inspires a new imaginary world of your own.
